How to Take Ayurvedic Health Therapies

Ayurvedic health therapies are the most effective form of Ayurvedic home therapy that we offer. The recommended combinations of Himalayan Ayurvedic teas with herbal elixirs or Ayurvedic drinks that each health therapy contains are carefully selected and their individual preparations have a synergistic effect.

Ayurvedic herbs are prepared according to several traditional methods and applied in various forms. Ayurvedic teas are used in the form of decoction (kvatha), herbal elixirs in the form of herbal jam (avaleha) and Ayurvedic drinks as ground powder (churna).

Absorption of Ayurvedic Herbs through Ayurvedic Preparations

All preparations based on Ayurvedic herbs start to work as soon as they enter the mouth and touch the tongue. At this point, the first therapeutic action takes place based on the Ayurvedic properties of the six flavors (rasa). Through taste receptors on the surface of the tongue, an immediate reaction occurs. The sweet taste is associated with thyroid activity, the sour taste with the lungs, the salty taste with the kidneys, the burning taste with the heart and stomach, the bitter taste with the liver, pancreas and spleen, and the astringent taste with the large intestine. Then the herbal preparations act on the digestion in the stomach and small intestine through heating or cooling energy (virja). In the final phase of digestion, which takes place in the large intestine, there is an effect on the process of excretion (vipaka). In addition to taste, energy and effect after digestion, each individual herb has its own special healing potency, which is called in Ayurveda (prabhava).

The fine mucous membranes of the entire digestive system allow rapid absorption of effects into the bloodstream, which are further generally manifested by a cleansing effect in the case of teas, a regenerative aspect at the tissue and cell level in the case of elixirs and a strengthening effect on the immune system in the case of beverages.

User Guide for Individual Combinations of Ayurvedic Therapies

If the Ayurvedic treatment contains 1 tea + 2 identical elixirs

  • Take a cup of tea 2-3 times a day with a teaspoon of elixir. Two packs of elixir are enough for 1 pack of tea.

If the Ayurvedic treatment contains 1 tea + 2 different elixirs

  • Take a cup of tea 2-3 times a day together with a teaspoon of the first elixir and after consumption, use another type. If it is a combination where one of the elixirs is Chyawanprash, you can take one elixir in the morning with tea and the other in the evening.

If the Ayurvedic treatment contains 1 tea + 1-2 elixirs + 1 hot drink

  • Take a cup of tea twice a day with a teaspoon of elixir and a cup of hot drink during the day (you can also add it to smoothies).

If the Ayurvedic treatment contains 2 teas + 2 elixirs

  • Follow the recommendations given for that specific Ayurvedic therapy, where the procedure is described in more detail.

Ayurvedic annual regime

Ayurvedic therapies describe the natural regime of the seasons. After spring detoxification, the body is ready for summer revitalization and tissue rejuvenation. This is followed by a period of cooling, when it is necessary to pay attention to cleansing and at the same time strengthening the immunity, so that the body is not subject to an increased risk of weakening. After this more demanding period, winter comes, when complete psychosomatic regeneration and relaxation is needed.

However, health therapies can be used according to individual needs at any time during the year.

Taking Ayurvedic Therapies

To cleanse or strengthen your body, use the therapy for 1-3 months and follow the simple basic rules mentioned below:

  • Duration: 1-3 months
  • Use: 2-3 times a day
  • When: in the morning on an empty stomach, during the day 1 hour before or 1 hour after a meal and in the evening before rest

Cleansing and Detoxification Therapies (Spring) / Curative Therapies and Strengthening of Immunity (Autumn)

With targeted cleansing and healing, the most important time of day is the morning. Here are 3 basic steps you should follow after waking up:

  • Empty and shower (the body excretes waste products through the skin overnight).
  • Drink a glass of warm water with lemon and 5 minutes to perform breathing exercises that will give the mind peace and positive energy: breathe very slowly and quietly - so that if someone gave you a thin thread to your nose, it would not move. And when you exhale, try to exhale even slower than you inhaled.
  • Drink a cup of cleansing Ayurvedic tea along with a teaspoon of herbal elixir (then wait at least 30 minutes with breakfast before the herbal preparations are well absorbed).

At the same time, we recommend regular easy running/jogging or fast walking and going to bed before midnight.

During the detoxification/healing therapy, leave meat and dairy foods off the diet. If you are used to them, try to significantly reduce their consumption. Also limit chocolate and sweets containing white sugar. Replace these delicacies with fresh ones, or dried fruit without preservatives, unsalted nuts and fresh vegetables. Also keep a sufficient supply of clean water and omit coffee and coca-cola from the drinks or replace them with a healthier alternative.

The cleansing process can bring about temporary side effects such as headaches, tiredness and limb heaviness. An uncomfortable feeling is associated with the excretion of toxins from the body. However, if you persevere, the cleansing therapy together with exercise and a light fresh diet will bring you more energy and firmer health.

Rejuvenating and Revitalizing Therapies (Summer) / Regenerating and Relaxation Therapies (Winter)

For effective revitalization and regeneration of the body, it is necessary to achieve a harmonious metabolism, where nutrients from the regular diet and from Ayurvedic preparations are properly and sufficiently absorbed and thus provide the body with the necessary nutrition. This is achieved by a suitable healthy diet and lifestyle in accordance with the individual constitution and also by better management, reduction or complete elimination of stress factors.

7 simple types for better stress management and healthy relaxation:

  1. Slow down your constantly busy rhythm of life.
  2. Pay more attention, learn to relax and indulge in a nourishing sleep.
  3. Prepare a hot bath.
  4. Take care of your skin and rub it with sesame oil.
  5. Regenerate the body through meditation, exercise, sports or staying in nature.
  6. Read inspirational books.
  7. Share quiet moments with people who understand you.

Preparation of Ayurvedic Therapy

Ayurvedic tea always brew for 3-5 minutes, it is much more effective than just infusing an herbal mixture poured with hot water and take a cup 2-3 times a day. One teaspoon of the mixture (2 g) is intended for 250 ml of water (one cup). But you can make a larger amount of tea and store it in a thermos. Always drink tea warm.

Herbal elixir use 2-3 times a day. Grind one teaspoon of herbal elixir in your mouth with a sip of lukewarm milk or water. You can also take it alone or with Ayurvedic tea to drink it. We recommend cow's milk for revitalizing and regenerating therapies, and cleansing tea will serve well for cleansing and detoxification.

Ayurvedic hot drink you can get by mixing 1 teaspoon (approx. 2 g) of a finely ground mixture in 250 ml of warm water and adding honey to taste. The ground powder or "churna" is consumed directly in a warm liquid with water. Unlike regular instant drinks, pure Amla drink mixes do not contain any preservatives or additives that would dissolve the mix. It is the consumption of Amla in warm water with honey that brings the desired health effect. The mixture can also be added to smoothies and fresh juices.
